Legacies competition is on!
Individuals or teams can compete in two
categories for a share of $7000 in prize money. We're looking for
creative submissions on both the immediate and long-term impacts of the

Creating Culturally Welcoming Communities & Businesses
Program Volunteer Victoria and the
Inter-Cultural Association of Greater Victoria are pleased
to offer the “Creating Culturally Welcoming Communities &
Businesses Program” culturally welcoming workshop training
sessions. Volunteer and community-based agencies interested
in attracting and engaging immigrants as employees or
volunteers in their agencies are welcome to apply to attend
this comprehensive program at no cost.
Creating Culturally Welcoming Communities & Businesses
Program
If you are part of defining the culture of your workplace,
and want to make sure your workplace can attract, integrate
and retain immigrants as employees and volunteers, this
workshop is for you. Experience two days of face-to-face,
highly interactive immersion in and exploration of concepts
around diversity, cultural competency, immigrant experience,
and how to apply this knowledge towards building a
culturally welcoming workplace for newcomer employees and
volunteers. Then, continue your learning with four weeks of
online training modules to focus on implementing the
Culturally Welcoming curriculum and creating changes in your
recruitment, screening, training, development, recognition
and retention practices.
Program includes:
- Face to face workshop to be held Wednesday March
31st and Thursday April 1st 8:30am-4:30pm at the Harbour
Towers Hotel and Suites in Victoria
- Four weeks of online learning modules starting April
6, 2010
Victoria community agency participants are asked to send
their completed applications forms to Volunteer Victoria in
advance of March 19, 2010 to be considered for this
no cost program. Spaces are limited.

to give outstanding students the recognition they

Haiti Relief
Fundraiser
Congratulations to the group of
Marketing students, Alicia Fells, Jennifer Young,
John Brownlee, Sarah Iles, Tamara Dean, Tessa
Goodwin, who organized a two-day fundraiser
Jan 26 & 27 in the CBA atrium for Haiti Relief,
raising $750, which will be matched by Unicef
Canada for a total of $1500.

3rd Year Marketing
students attend Media Crawl Students in
the MARK 340 – Communication Tools and Media class
attended a Media Crawl on Friday, January 29.
They
met with Adam Stirling - CFAX radio host, and
Astrid Braunschimidt – ‘A’ Vancouver Island
reporter, and toured the TV and radio station
facilities at 1420 Broad Street. (Both Adam and
Astrid are Camosun College graduates.)
Our group then travelled to CHEK for a behind the
scenes look at Vancouver Island’s employee owned
television station. The tour and talk were lead by
Rob Germain, Station Manager.

will no longer accept credit cards for paying
domestic tuition (except for the $35 application
fee, the $150 registration deposit, and tuition
for continuing education classes).

International MSc
programme in sustainable energy at REYST
Sustainable use of energy resources is the basis
for future economic growth and well being. To
promote research and organized education in this
field, Reykjavik Energy, in collaboration with
Reykjavik University and the University of
Iceland, has established REYST – an
interdisciplinary school in higher education for
engineers and scientists in order to create
leading experts in management, design and
research in the field of sustainable energy.
REYST – Reykjavik Energy Graduate School of
Sustainable Systems – offers an international
graduate program based on the three pillars of
engineering, earth science and business. The
program is characterized by its focus on
sustainable energy use, especially geothermal
energy, practical experience in the field and
ready access to on-site work with experts on
various subjects. The international graduate
program is open for students holding a BSc
degree in engineering, earth sciences and
business.
REYST is located at Reykjavik Energy
headquarters in Reykjavik, Iceland, Reykjavik
University and the University of Iceland. The
language of instruction is English.
An 18-month, 120 ECTS MSc programme starts in
August each year.

One Premier's Scholarship
for study abroad
- We will be awarding one
Premier's scholarship for study abroad, valued
at $20,000.
