Small Certified General Accountant office is looking for an enthusiastic Junior bookkeeper to assume various client accounting  duties on a permanent basis.  Experience with Simply and Quickbooks is required.

The Mary Winspear Community Cultural Centre supports activities, programs and services desired by the community which meet their special event, meeting and live theatre needs. Our goal is to continue to be the "Heart of the Community" with expanded programs and services as outlined in our current Needs Assessment. Following is an accountant job description for the purposes of undertaking the costing of new or enhanced programs and services.

Accountant Job Description

Basic Function:

The accountant position is accountable for an analysis of operating costing of specific programs and services required by current users and potential consumers through the use of an appropriate costing model. The Centre wants to soundly estimate the cost elements of entire product and service lines. The goal is to identify potential new revenue sources to improve performance of our organization.

Through the use of a sound methodology, we wish to assign our organization's resource costs (fixed and variable) to the products and services provided to our users. This analysis will predominantly support strategic decisions such as opportunity identification, pricing, outsourcing and measurement of initiatives. A final report with recommendations is required.

Principal Accountabilities:

Data Collection 1. Use a cost accounting methodology to gather data on costs association with specific programs and services.

Analysis 1. Conduct constraint analyses 2. Report on breakeven points by program and service 3. Report on margins by program and service

Desired Qualifications:

Minimum 3+ years of accounting/finance experience and education. Also, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to collaborate with a multi-department team.

Working Conditions:

The accountant is required to undertake work in a home office on contract. Contract details to be negotiated. Additionally, the candidate will regularly visit all significant on-site operations.
