Mental Health Checkup Day
- March 4 Blues
Got You Down?
Are you bothered by:
- Anxiety, worry or recurrent fears?
- Loss of interest / energy in things?
- Indecision, loss of concentration?
- Changes in sleeping or eating patterns?

conditions can be improved, resulting in reduction of bothersome
symptoms, renewed energy and enhanced enjoyment in life. Let’s help
each other get the support we all deserve within our Camosun Community!

Fraser Institute Student Video Contest -
Deadline November 30/09

Topic: What
is the Appropriate Role of Government in the
Economy? The role of governments in the
economy spans a spectrum, from absolute control
(communism) to laissez-faire. In between these two
extremes, there are a wide range of activities that
governments can undertake.
Your video should examine these activities, and
determine the appropriate role that government
should play. You may choose to consider:
- What are the fundamental, or necessary,
functions of government?
- What are the effects of different types of
activities?
- What are the costs and benefits of different
government actions?
- Who bears the costs, and who receives the
benefits?
- Can there be “too much of a good thing?” At
what point do some activities harm, rather than
help the economy?
Videos may examine specific areas of government
policy, or consider a broader scope of government
actions.

International Education Week
2009, November 16 – 20
Canada
joins over 85 countries around the globe to
celebrate international education on November 16–20,
2009. In Canada, International Education Week (IEW)
showcases the significant contribution that
international education makes in preparing Canadians

engage effectively on the international stage.
Promoting Global Citizenship is the theme for
Canada's IEW 2009. International and intercultural
knowledge, skills, abilities and attitudes are
increasingly important for students to develop in
order to live and work in a complex but increasingly
integrated world. Camosun College continues to
expand its range of opportunities for students to
develop these competencies through such programs as
study abroad, internationalized curricula, and
service learning.
