The unofficial final marks for BUS 140 Section 001 are posted below. Please note that the lowest Quiz and lowest MYITLAB Chapter Hands-on exercise marks have been discarded, and marks have been rounded up where appropriate.

A mark breakdown is posted on my office door. The official final marks will be posted on Camlink. Best of luck in your future endeavours.

All MYITLAB Hands-one exercises, quizzes, and theory assignments for PowerPoint and Word are now available. The following is a complete summary of assignments and due dates from now until the end of the course.

What's Due?

August 13: Hands-on Exercises and End of Chapter Quizzes for Chapters 1-2 of PowerPoint in MYITLAB. PowerPoint Theory Assignment (2%). This covers both chapters of PowerPoint in the text book. Please note that for ALL Theory Assignments you get only ONE attempt.

August 16: Integration Project/PowerPoint Take Home Exam (10%). This exam/assignment will be handed out in class on Aug 9.

August 17: Hands-on Exercises and End of Chapter Quizzes for Chapters 1-3 of Word in MYITLAB. Word Theory Assignment (2%). This covers Chapters 1-3 of Word in the text book. (NOTE: There are four chapters of Word in the textbook; you will be responsible for Chapters 1-3). Please note that for ALL Theory Assignments you get only ONE attempt.

What's Due?

July 26: Social Club Exercise. Hand in the assignment with the answers, and submit the electronic file to my ~inbox. No printouts required.

July 27: Chapter 5 and Chapter 7 Theory Assignments (1% each) in MYITLAB. These cover the chapters on Information Technology Infrastructure at the back of the text book. Please note that for ALL Theory Assignments you get only ONE attempt.

July 28: Excel Amortization Exercise (1%) and Excel Chapter 6 Case Study (1%). These will be handed out in class on July 26.

July 30: Hands-on Exercises and End of Chapter Quizzes for Chapters 4-7 of Excel in MYITLAB.

August 3: Excel Theory Assignment (4%) in MYITLAB. This covers all 7 chapters of Excel in the text book. Please note that for ALL Theory Assignments you get only ONE attempt.

August 4: BUS 140 HSRE exercise (Hardware/Software/Internet Research Exercise) must be in my ~inbox by 5:50pm if you want to use the printouts during the exam. The electronic file will not be available during the exam.

Due: Hands-on Exercises and End of Chapter Quizzes for Chapters 4-7 of Excel in MYITLAB. The due date for all of these is 5:50pm Fri Jul 30.

Use the College computers for the Hands-on Exercises, Quizzes, and Theory Assignments in MYITLAB. (There is no support from lab techs if using your own computer. In other words, there is no recourse if your system crashes and MYITLAB cannot record your mark.).

Jul 21

Our lab techs have suggested using any lab except CBA 220 for MYITLAB.

There is one exercise which will be handed out in class on Mon Jul 19: Social Club Exercise (2%) due at 5:50pm on Mon Jul 26.

The IT Chapter 5 and Chapter 7 Theory Assignments (1% each) are now available in MYITLAB, and are due by 5:50pm on Tue July 27. These cover the chapters on Information Technology Infrastructure at the back of the text book. Please note that for ALL Theory Assignments you get only ONE attempt.

The Hands-on Exercises and End of Chapter Quizzes for Chapters 4-7 of Excel in MYITLAB are now available. The due date for all of these is 5:50pm Fri Jul 30. (Check the calendar at right when in MYITLAB). You have two attempts at each hands-on exercise and each quiz. There is a fair amount of work; best not to leave it to the last minute.

Jul 13:

The solutions to the CCTV File Management Exercise are posted on my office door.

The due date for the Hands-on Exercises and End of Chapter quizzes for CH 1 & 2 is 5:50pm Friday Jul 16. (Check the calendar at right when in MYITLAB). You have two attempts at each hands-on exercise and each quiz.

The due date for the Hands-on Exercises and End of Chapter quizzes for CH 3 is 5:50pm Tue Jul 20.

Week of Jul 5-9

1. Check the Schedule (at left) for the topics/textbook chapters this week.

2. Please send me an e-mail by noon on Wednesday, Jul 7 so I have your current e-mail address.
Put BUS 140 sectionnumber yourname in the subject line.
Add a message telling me something interesting about yourself and why you are taking this course.
Attach a photo (either of yourself or of a favourite place).

3. If you have not already handed in the Student Self Assessment, submit it to my physical dropbox before class on Wednesday.

4. Login to MYITLAB (www.myitlab.com) as shown in class. View the guide for your section at left if necessary.

5. A couple of reminders when using MYITLAB:
--Use the College computers for the Hands-on Exercises and Quizzes in MYITLAB. (There is no support from lab techs if using your own computer. In other words, there is no recourse if your system crashes and MYITLAB cannot record your mark.).
NOTE: The Hands-on Exercises and Quizzes are set to two attempts and you can save for later. They are not timed (other than by due date and time).
--Set your time zone to Pacific in MYITLAB (through My Profile). All assignments are due on the posted date Pacific time.
--When doing the hands-on exercises, type all functions in UPPERCASE.
--If you have difficulty doing an exercise, choose Show Me. Be patient as it talks you through the entire process. Note: Have your sound turned on. If the sound is off, it may seem like the system is very slow or not responding…what’s happening is it’s talking you through the procedure. Be patient. Then do the question the way it shows you.
--The end of chapter quizzes in MYITLAB are similar to but different from the end of chapter quizzes in the textbook. If you want to practice using the textbook quizzes, the answers are on p 1324 of the text.

6. Ensure you are familiar with the material in the Getting Started with Windows XP chapter, pp. 1259-1300, and in particular, the pages on file management (pp. 1274-1280)

7. Read Chapter 1, Office Fundamentals (pp. 1-53)

8. Read Chapters 1 & 2 of Excel

9. In MYITLAB, do the following quizzes in the INITIAL QUIZZES folder by 5:50 p.m. on Monday Jul 12:

You can do these quizzes up to 10 times; your best mark will count. Note that the question counter will not increment during these quizzes, but it is still recording your response. Hit the SUBMIT button when you have answered all questions.
